USA complete the semi-finalists with win over Germany

The USA was an expected semi-finalist, but first they had to beat Germany. It wasn’t an easy game for sure, but the Americans took an early lead and when they scored two more in the third quarter, it was pretty much decided.

Game report

The Americans didn’t want to leave any doubts and went straight for the first goal. Matt White slapped it behind Ower from red line in fifth minute, it went through Ower’s pads. USA then scored another one just a minute later, but because of an attacking player in the crease, it was disallowed.

In the second quarter, we’ve seen a pressure by the winning side at first, but Noe only hit post in the greatest chance back then. As the halftime was approaching, Siemer was called for tripping and the Germans were pushing their opponent deep around its goal.

However, the States managed to resist and stroke again in the third period. Kyle Novak‘s shot was stopped by Ower, but Patrick Seifert tapped it into his own net by accident while trying to send it away.

Ower had some tough time around that time and after few great saves, he conceded another one. Travis Noe found a top corner precisely to make a three-goals difference on the table.

The Germans had to send everything in offense for the last period and they did. At first, they hit a post and with another chance still inside the 37th minute, Marco Pfleger decreased the gap by one.

USA still had it under control, but they needed to score one more to be sure. This happened minute and change before the end when Matt White got it in on a near post.

Reactions

Joe Cook (USA):

Joe Cook (USA): We had a really great opponent. The Germans plays well in defense. We have to enter the next games just as we did enter those in our group. We have to play like a team and fight.

Georg Holzmann (Německo): I must say the team played really well. The guys gave it everything. We had too many penalties, which cost us lots of energy. That’s what we lacked in the end. We wanted to play more offensive style than we did in previous games and we had some good chances, manily in the end. Maybe there would have been a bigger chance if we didn’t concede the unlucky second goal.
