Game report

The Austrian defeat from quarterfinal game with Latvia has been the biggest surprise of whole tournament so far. That’s why the European team had to improve and avoid relegation. First step came in the 15th minute by Daniel Oberkofler in short-handed play.

Second period continued with another four goals. It looked really great for Austria when Andre Niec succeeded from the rebound, Patrick Spannring followed him a minute later and Daniel Oberkofler benefited again from great work in the goal crease.

Before the 10-minute break the Brazilians also scored their first goal of the game thanks to Caua Guzman. But even they didn’t play bad, it wasn’t enough. When Kevin Macierzynski heightened the lead for Austria, the game was over.

„We are all sad we didn’t make the semifinals yesterday. But what’s important now, we survived in the Division and we won’t miss the championship next year,“ said Harry Lange, the best player from Team Austria at the tournament.

Reactions

Andreas Wanner (Austria): It’s a relief for us to win this game, because yesterday we failed completely and it was clear that today’s game will be the key one. The guys did everything they could. We could score some more goals in the end, but we should be happy for the result.

Jeffrey Prime (Brazil): I think we played very well in this game, probably it was our best game of the tournament. They had probably two or three minutes when they scored three goals, but I think we played very well with them. I´m proud of our boys.
