Inline Worlds knocking on door

June 1, 2014, the date when the Inline Hockey World Championships in Pardubice start, is getting closer and closer. Pardubice has already hosted the 2011 Worlds and because organization back then was successful, the IIHF decided to bring the tournament back to the Eastern Bohemian city.

Satisfaction with the fact that Pardubice will host the event again is not only among Czech team members and staff, but also among the leadership of the city of 90,000. "Organizing such an event has positive impact on our city, not only when it comes to prestige, but also from the economical view," says František Brendl, deputy mayor of Pardubice. "We´re happy that we can host the event again." The deputy mayor also noted that the last inline hockey WC that the city hosted had also on-stage success with the home team taking gold.

"We definitely take this opportunity as a reward for our good job back in 2011. The IIHF named the 2011 Pardubice Worlds one of the best in the history of the sport at one of it´s congresses," said one of organizators of the event, Martin Střída. The organizing comittiee will follow the concept that it used three years ago – both venues at the ČEZ Arena will be used and teams will be accommodated at various places around Pardubice, including the city centre.

The event will be, just like the last time, supported by the city and the region of Pardubice. It was the city who bought the playing surface for the secondary venue before the last tournament and supported the event economically. "It will be the same this year as we want the event to have success again. I believe that events like this belong to our arena and make us city more visible to foreigners," said Brendl.
