Australia beat the bad luck and Latvia as well

What a interesting game this was for Jordan Gavin. The Australian hit the posts three times to watch his opponent get in front. However, Australia managed to turn it around in the second halftime and scored five goals.

Game report

Opening minutes was better by the Australians, but since they weren’t able to prove it with goal, they won’t be satisfied with that. Kruze was there to make a nice save in 6th minute and then, something extraordinary happened.

Try to tell Jordan Gavin about bad luck. This Australian player hit the post three times in the end of 1st and start of 2nd period. For more Steve Best managed to hit one too and the goal was up for grabs. Anyway, when it finally came, it was on the other side.

Vladislav Konisevs surprised everybody with less than two minutes left until the halftime and sent the European team into the lead. Amazingly with four goals denied by Kruze’s goal construction.

Australia was not giving up and Sean Jones equalized right after the break, with a nice backhand finish on Kruze. The Latvians were close to take the lead back, when Konisevs ran away, but James stopped him this time.

The lock was broken and soon Brenton Fitzgerald‘s tap-in and Luke Fritchley’s powerplay goal sent Australia two goals in front.

The Australians controlled the game and quickly added another one in the fourth quarter. Jordan Gavin rather chose to finish between Kruze’s pads and chose wisely. Latvia was losing in the game and their last hope went with a penalty few minutes before the end. Anthony Collins‘ powerplay goal made it done.

Reactions

Stuart Philps (Australia): „We have a lot of dificult moments in the first quarter because we shots many goal posts and our oponent scored first goal. However it was inessential to play our game. Finally we played very good and exactly what we said togehther in dressing room. It was neccesary to win but it is the same in every match."

Romans Glazkovs (Latvia): We started the game quite well, I think it was an equal match till the second half. After that we made a few pointless mistakes in defence, so we got some goals. With regards to Australian goalkeeper, he is pretty tall guy, so perhaps that is why he was catching such well.
