A start of the game belonged to home players. After only 90 seconds, Buchtele with Simem skated into a giveaway and the second named was very close to score, where he rebounded in front of an empty part of the net. Slovak Simunek got a minor penalty in the 4th minute for tripping. However, Slovaks killed this penalty, Czech opened the score. Simo sent a pass to Martin Vozdecky, he sent it back and Michal Simo beat Ondrejka. 3 minutes later, the roles have turned. After a Simo´s pass, Martin Vozdecky doubled the Czech lead. At the beginning of the 12th minute, a home goalie Salficky made a great glove-save after Novajovsky´s shot.

After a short break, Slovaks reached their first goal. Czech players over-numbered their opponent in a corner, but forgot about defending their own net. Lukas Ruzicka was alone in front of Salficky and beat him for the first time. Czech players found a good answer. Zdenek Cap skates through the field and found a gap between Ondrejka´s pads. Slovak goalie made two good saves in the 16th minute against Cik and Buchtele. Before the half-time, Slovaks reached their second goal. Salficky deflected the first shot by Simunek, but was short against a rebound by Jakub Ruckay.

Roman Simunek got a minor penalty for hooking in the 27th minute and Czech players converted this advantage into the 4th goal. After shots by Vozdecky and Simo, the puck was deflected on a stick of Patrik Sebek, who beat Ondrejka for the 4th time. Lukas Cik could after few moments scored another Czech goal, but his try was stopped by Slovak defenders. Then, the true drama was made. Two penalties in a quick sequence for Czech team and Slovaks got themselves in a pressure. However, only Simanek made a good opportunity, when he hit a post 40 seconds before the last siren. Reactions

Imrich Antal (Slovakia): I think the game was very balanced, but was decided, that Czechs were able to convert their power play into goals. Considering the fact that our competition before the start of the championship managed to play only three rounds and players are not so warmed-up, we can be satisfied. We made a sharp exchange of players in our team and we have handy and skated-developed players. Now it´s just about how they can realize what we say in the locker room.

Jan Besser (Czech Republic): We are satisfied about what we have played. Especially then on offense, when we well combined and were active on the puck. In our defensive play, we then made mistakes, which Slovaks of course punished. We have to improve this part of our game. Must say, however, that our entire team met just this morning, and maybe these mistakes were cause of it.
