Game report

The score was opened after only 54 seconds when Kristof Reinthaler scored after his good shot from the middle of the zone. Austrians got themselves into a two-goal lead, when they converted a power play after too many players on the floor - Obekofler managed to rebound Lange´s shot.

Team Hungary made the game tied in very quick. Its players needed only 2 minutes to make it. Firstly Fekecs copied Obekofler and scored thanks to rebound and then Kiss stole the puck from his opponent and also beat the goalie.

After the main break, a goal fest continued. In spite of a leading goal for Team Austria by Obekofler again, the better entry had the opponent. Three goals in only 1 minute and 39 seconds broke Austrians for a while. The great part of the game from Hungarian point of view was started by Ladanyi, then Pal and finally Revak.

However, Austrians did not give up and made the game tied again! And also in a very quick sequence. In the 33rd minute, Kiss failed to save after Riener´s shot and 3 minutes later Haidinger cheered up all Austrian fans. When it looked like that all were waiting for an overtime, Akos Kiss changed the puck with Revak quickly and scored the winning goal for his team.

Reactions

Andreas Wanner (Austria): We started pretty well, we had a 2-0 lead. But during the game we made some stupid mistakes, we were unconcentrated. We came back and controlled the last two quarters, but to get the game winning goal seven seconds before the end is hard. However, we’ll start the quarterfinals as the best game of the group. I saw Latvia, they have couple of good ice hockey players, but I don’t know if they are as good in inline hockey. I think we have the better team and we’ll try to control the game, that would be the key to winning the quarterfinal.

Miroslav Vybiral (Hungary): We entered the the game a little differently, and even though we were losing twice, we were able to get back into it. When we led 5-3 we could enjoy the game and finish with a peace. I urged players to hold a puck and do not shoot unnecessarily. Austrians even didn‘t forcheck us and we allowed them with own stupidity to make the game tied on 5-5. Today we deserved it a little more than your opponent, so I‘m glad it worked out. The decision will be made on Thursday and I hope that boys will learn from their mistakes. At the end of the game we were waiting for one option, I told the players to wait until the final seconds.
