Nailbiter goes to Brazil after scoring three times in final period

It was one of the most even games so far, even the scoreline doesn’t quite reflects that. Both teams scored once in each of first three periods as nobody couldn’t to keep the lead. Finally, the Brazilians decided with a streak in fourth period.

Game report

Hungary started better and prepared some chances. Bartalis‘ shot off post and disallowed goal for Hungary wasn’t enough to warn Brazil, so the Hungarians took the lead. Istvan Bartalis‘ dump-in was deflected by Andrade into his own net.

However, Felipe Geraldini managed to tie the scoreline just before the break. For more, Felipe Geraldini sent his side in front right after the intermission with his second goal.

The Hungarians managed to even it thanks to Balazs Ladanyi, who got the puck pas Goncalves with a little bit of luck. Anyway, the Brazilians carried on and added another one after halftime break. At first, the referees did not allow it, but another action finished by Diego Araujo leaves no doubts.

It was anybody’s game and the Hungarians managed to make it even once again. This time, it was Akos Kiss, who got it into the net. It looked like this goal sent Hungary upfront, but they couldn’t turn it around.

With less then seven minutes to go, Jose Guliardi oriented well in a scramble and sent it past Kiss to make it 3:4! For more, Luiz Filho Almeida scored another one in a blink of an eye and two-goal lead proved as crucial.

Hungary tried its luck with an extra attacker, but conceded a sixth one from Luis Custodio’s stick as he had no problem with an empty net in front of him. The Europeans tried it without a goalie once again, but it didn’t lead to anything.

Reactions

Jeffrey Prime (Brazil): We wanted to give hundred percent from the start, what we actually did for the most of the game. Of course we had few weak moments. When we took the lead, we started to defend it. We encouraged our players not to do that and they listened to our advices and we controlled the ending of the game. Every win in this tournament is a huge success for us and we want to thank our players for their effort.

Miroslav Vybíral (Hungary): Our approach towards the game was bad from the beginning. After our first goal, players thought we were going to win this match easily. As everybody could have seen, it was enough for our opponent to have bigger desire and to fight harder for the win. If we are not going to play and fight as a team, we can´t be successful, but I believe we can do that and we have what it takes to grab the win in our next game against Austria. New competition begins in the play-offs and anything could happen there.
