USA shoots down Sweden with 12 goals to capture bronze

The battle for bronze was a close game most of the time, but Americans stepped up the tempo later in the game and gave their Swedish opponent a rout by 12-5 win.

Although Team Sweden played a power play after only 23 seconds, Americans opened the score during Cadiz´s penalty when White proved his qualities and beat Kruse in the net. In the 7th minute, the leading of the overseas team was double. Noe waited from the mistake of their opponent and it came. 20 seconds later, also Swedish players scored. Robin Wall decided the situation 3 on 1 by a precise shot. And in the 9th minute, the score was tied. Berglund got through his defender and beat also Kuhn. However, U.S. team took the lead back and it was again a short-handed goal, this time by Thomson . After a short break, the score turned to the other side. Two quick goals by Sjören and Berglund put Swedish players in the driving seat. This state didn´t last for long. Firstly Noe made the game tied again in the 17th minute, then Rodriguez and Lee within 2 minutes sent Americans again ahead.

To the second two parts, the Swedish team made a substitution in their net, Kruse was replaced by Ollikainen. This change didn´t stop Team USA and Rodriguez added another goal. In the 34th minute, Patrick Lee was in giveaway, he tried to make a move, but he didn´t fool Ollikainen in the net. After a counterattack, Axelsson passed to Gunnarsson who lowered U.S. leading to 2 goals. But Americans converted the next power play by Lee. The last part was completely under American control. First, Spezia pushed the score to 9-5 and 3 minutes later, the very same player rounded it to 10 to 5. This was not even enough and Americans want to destroy their opponent completely. The 11th goal for Siemer and Lee made it as a real rout for the Swedish point of view. And finished it for the hat-trick.
